A flexible approach to vessel-based RLWI
AXTech’s off-the-side RLWI tower provides a flexible solution for subsea well intervention, with a modular design developed for efficient offshore operations.
Subsea wells require intervention throughout their operating life, from maintenance and production enhancement to integrity work and preparation for plug and abandonment.
For suitable light well intervention operations, using a vessel rather than a drilling rig can provide a more flexible and cost-efficient approach.
Building on our experience in subsea lifting and handling, AXTech has developed an off-the-side RLWI tower for safe and controlled launch and recovery of riserless well intervention equipment directly over the vessel side.
Controlled handling from deck to subsea
The system combines subsea lifting, active heave compensation and guided handling through the splash zone. A slewing tower transfers the intervention equipment between the deck handling area and the deployment position, while the cursor and guide system provides stability during critical handling phases.
The main lift winch, hydraulic power and control systems are integrated into the tower, reducing external interfaces and simplifying vessel integration.
The modular design supports efficient mobilisation and demobilisation between operations and vessels.
System capacity is tailored to the specific operational requirements of each project, with the current design supporting operations in water depths of up to 3,000 metres.
