Cable & Pipe Lay
Handling systems for subsea installation
Cable and pipelay operations demand strength, precision, and reliability.
With decades of offshore experience, AXTech designs and delivers specialised lifting and handling systems for subsea installation and laying operations – tailored to each vessel and mission.
Our engineer-to-order approach delivers solutions that integrate with vessel layout and operational requirements, optimising performance and extending operational weather windows

A-Frame Systems
AXTech's heavy-duty A-frames are complete, self-contained handling systems designed for safe, efficient, and precise subsea operations. Each unit is engineered and built to match the vessel’s layout and operational requirements, combining a robust steel structure with advanced hydraulic control and practical access solutions.
Designed for single-lift installation, the A-frame enables reliable launch and recovery of subsea tools, ploughs, and ROV systems. It is equally suited for offshore cable laying, heavy subsea installation, and vessel-mounted lifting operations where precision and robustness are essential.
This heavy-duty system is built for long service life and direct integration. Every detail is engineered for performance, maintainability, and durability.
Key Capabilities
Single-lift skid design
The A-frame can be delivered as a fully assembled skid – a complete, self-contained unit prepared for single-lift installation or removal from the vessel.
Integrated rigging and sheave system
The gantry incorporates all main and auxiliary sheaves for optimal wire routing. Integrated access platforms and rigging points allow for safe, time-efficientoperations and simplified maintenance.
Stabilising Scissor Frame (SSF)
Mounted centrally beneath the crossbeam, the SSF provides damping and control of the subsea tool during handling in air. Its docking head and hydraulic cylinders ensure stable alignment and smooth transfer between deck and sea – even in challenging sea states.
Working range
Available as standard or wide-angle configurations, all A-frames are engineered to specific client requirements.
