Lifting and handling equipment for Offshore Wind

AXTech engineers customised lifting and handling systems for offshore wind transportation, installation, and maintenance.

Building on decades of offshore experience, we engineer equipment for foundation installation, component handling, and heavy maintenance operations. Whether fixed to the seabed or floating in deep waters, our systems are built for the operational reality of offshore wind: harsh weather, heavy loads and tight weather windows. We design solutions that make demanding operations safer and more efficient.

Oil & gas expertise applied to renewables

Offshore wind faces many of the same challenges we've solved for years: harsh weather, heavy lifts, precise positioning, and operations from floating vessels. But the scale is different. Large components, higher installation volumes and short deadlines require equipment that's built for heavy duty – with the precision and reliability offshore operations demand.

AXTech brings proven competence in heavy motion compensation systems, launch and recovery operations, heavy-duty winch technology, and vessel integration.

We've adapted this expertise to meet offshore wind's unique demands, engineering solutions that improve safety, reduce costs, and extend weather windows.

Offshore Major Component Exchange

As offshore wind scales up, there is a growing need for safe and efficient heavy component exchange offshore.

We're developing technology to enable this directly from floating vessels — increasing operational efficiency for both floating and fixed-bottom wind farms.

This challenge requires innovation across the entire value chain. It demands early, holistic thinking — from turbine design to vessel integration — as there are currently no standardised solutions for such operations. Achieving this will require close collaboration across disciplines and industries to develop the standards of tomorrow.

We are applying this experience through the AXTech Wind Worker, developed in collaboration with Equinor.

Recognised as a winner of Equinor’s Innovation Challenge, the Wind Worker represents a technological step forward: enabling major component replacement from floating vessels, without the need for fixed platforms or jack-ups.

This project demonstrates what is technically possible — and marks the starting point for the next generation of offshore maintenance technology.
